I am a kind of low-level ill, I think. If it was a week day, I would probably be at my desk and then just resting in between or getting an early night, rather than completely out of commission. It’s a Sunday though, and I think I will just lean into being ill and have a sofa day. Reading (Vianne by Joanne Harris) when I feel up to it and TV (probably Rivals and Criminal Minds) when I don’t. And maybe some no-pressure, no-plan sketchbook time, too.
I did spend some time in the studio yesterday, but was completely unable to do anything productive or creative, it was just comfort drawing, which is perfectly fine to do, of course. But I felt a bit sad that I wasn’t continuing with the creative flow of ideas and moving them forward. Or progressing any assignments.
And in the evening I ended up drawing something that would not look out of place in my Morning Ink sketchbook.
I was playing a bit with washes, since I am using non-waterproof ink.
It looks better desaturated, I think…
From tomorrow, I am going to try making this a weekly post that I update daily. So, hopefully, you will be able to find it if you go to my main Substack page if you want to check in daily and otherwise you should get it in your inbox next Sunday, with a week’s worth of Morning Ink and studio pictures to look through. It will be an experiment and it may chop and change a little as I adjust.
Thanks for reading. See you tomorrow, or maybe next Sunday!
Thanks for reading Morning Ink, where I share my daily fountain pen drawing and whatever thoughts (sometimes none, mostly reasonably short, occasionally long and very rambling) jump out and onto the screen. If you don’t want daily emails you can toggle them off by going to Manage subscription – just turn Morning Ink off, no need to fully unsubscribe!1
Some links may be affiliate links, and will earn me a few pennies.
If you want to go even further you can take out a paid subscription – if you’re happy to give me your postal address I'll send you some art of some kind in the post.
And if you don’t like subscriptions (I totally get it!) you can ‘tip me’ instead. But really, your presence and comments are the best rewards – if they could be exchanged for food and electricity, I’d be so very happy.
