One deadline out of the way yesterday. Which means most of my deadlines are now a little way off – the week after next for some and the week after that for others. And that feels both good and bad. The particularly bad thing is that there’s a long weekend coming up and I really don’t think I can take it off. I don’t think I need to work crazy hours over the weekend, but I don’t think I can get away with not doing any at all.
I may actually sit and do some more detailed sub-task planning and time estimates today. Everything I have to do is a subsequent batch of something I’ve already done one or more batches of, so I have the data on how long things took before. And I do love a bit of spreadsheet and notebook calculation fun. I’ll work out how much and what I’d need to do without working any of the weekends and how much, with spreading the work out including a few light hours on weekends, and see what looks most appealing.
We went out for dinner last night. Just to the Curio Lounge. (Any other UK people fans of the Lounges? I love them. The décor is so very me. I would genuinely happily have a living room kitted out like a Lounge. I was looking forward to a leisurely evening in the living room, but one of the kids (the one who will be disappearing off to university very soon) requested (well ‘booked’) the living room, so I invited Chris out for dinner. I had a very nice Vegan Roasted Pepper & Squash Flatbread with sweet potato fries and vegan mayo. And it was too much to finish. Chris had some meaty tapas.
It was nice to go out and have a bit of a chat. I think there’s a difference to how we talk when out for a drink or dinner to sat in the office together or pottering around in the kitchen and dining room. We talked about our travel plans and wishes, what we’ve been reading, and a fair bit about work and kids, too, though we kept trying not to.
Right, I’d best get on with the invoices and my planning and estimates.
