It’s the last day of March and tomorrow is a fresh month. I love a new month. Though I do prefer them when they are good enough to start on a Monday. They’re kind of like mini new years, with a chance to look back at what you did that month and the things that sparked an interest – or joy! And to think about what you might want to get into over the next month.
March: tree blossom, blue skies, afternoon tea, London and London Book Fair, a return to Morning Ink, much tabletop drawing and a bit of creative wandering
April: weekends, paella, circus, family, painting stairs, salads, garden, walks, more colour, focused creative practice, reading, dreaming, writing
I have a couple days of work to get through and then I should have an extra long weekend, on top of the four-day one we get here, due to the way return dates and handovers have fallen. So I hope to really make the most of that, including some dedicated rest time.
I watched the first episode of The Pitt last night (very happy that we get HBO Max folded into our Now TV subscription, which I also just got super cheap for the next year – yay) and I thought it was brilliant. I am going to try to ration it and not binge it. I think the episodes are quite intense, so not watching more than one in a day will be good. Plus, it’s not something to draw while watching, I feel. At least not in a first watch.
I also went for a walk along the canal and appreciated the changing trees there and elsewhere. Every season has the opportunity for trees to show off their beauty, but I think Spring and Autumn are particularly special, due to the variety of stages different trees are in.
Enjoy your day. See you tomorrow.
Thanks for reading Morning Ink, where I share my daily fountain pen drawing and whatever thoughts (sometimes none, mostly reasonably short, occasionally long and very rambling) jump out and onto the screen. If you don’t want daily emails you can toggle them off by going to Manage subscription – just turn Morning Ink off, no need to fully unsubscribe!1
If you want to go even further you can take out a paid subscription – if you’re happy to give me your postal address I'll send you some art of some kind in the post.
And if you don’t like subscriptions (I totally get it!) you can ‘tip me’ instead. But really, your presence and comments are the best rewards – if they could be exchanged for food and electricity, I’d be so very happy.
