My alarm was set for 6am (youngest back at school today, so wanted to make sure I was up and around should she need anything – young = 14, so often doesn’t need a thing at all). I woke at 5.20 needing the loo. If I had gone back to sleep then, my alarm would have woken me in the middle of a sleep cycle, and I’d have felt tired all day. So I got up.
And have felt tired all day.
Ah well.
I got some dailies ticked off before 9.30 am which is great – yoga, daily sketchbook, drew three (and a half) images that will go up on stock sites, read today’s War and Peace chapter while eating breakfast (toast with Marmite and Philadelphia – which felt weirdly indulgent, and delicious, and probably reasonably healthy, though lack of fresh fruit or veg not so good – I should have added an apple).
Worked (typesetting PowerPoints) until 12pm and then went to make hummus and guacamole, both of which I have been meaning to make for ages. I love having them in the fridge (and/or some other similar things like my tomato and bean pate and red pepper and cashew nut spread), because then I can have them on toast, corn thins, oat cakes etc. as lunch or snacks. Today I had a sandwich of wholemeal toast with guacamole on one side and hummus on the other (no butter [Lurpak spreadable or Flora spreadable plant-based when I’m in a vegan phase] – it’s one of the few things that I don’t have any desire to include butter with) and filled with a generous handful of rocket and cucumber and tomato slices. Soooooo good. And a pint of iced water.
And here I am ticking off another task for the day which is to write something here. And I can already feel the darkness drawing in (it’s 3.40 pm), so I’m going to need to go take my walk very soon, or it will be too late (I won’t go beyond the edge of town when it’s dark as I don’t feel safe, though I probably am perfectly safe, and quite possibly safer out passed town than in town, but I have in my head that if there are doors I can knock on close by it’s safe; and if there aren’t it’s not). I do enjoy a late-night walk to the edge of town and back, actually, but getting out into the countryside is the best.
And then I’ll get some more work in, because I’m not dealing with dinner today. And I might well do a bit more in the evening, too, and then will probably watch something while drawing more things to put on stock sites – and I want to test out if I can do the cleaning them up and getting the files ready all on the iPad, which promises good things for digital nomadcy in the future.
