My home for the weekend is the bathroom. Painting the ceiling, half a wall (the bit that’s not tiled) and the trims. Yesterday, I finished scraping old yucky paint off the ceiling. There were only three very small patches that were stuck fast to the plaster.
It’s been a while since we painted and we (well, two of us in particular) tend to have long, hot, steamy showers that accumulate a mad amount of condensation. And that most definitely took its toll on the ceiling.
Really, we should be installing an extractor fan. And maybe a dehumidifier. And really we could also do with a new bath. And a new shower. And probably a new sink unit while we’re at it. And perhaps a nice tiled floor. And some hooks for towels. And a big shelf for plants. And some shelving for all the shampoo and shower gel and other variety of bits and bobs we (mostly me and the girls) accumulate.
But… a paint spruce is what we are committing to right now and the more expensive updates can wait. And a paint spruce can genuinely make a space look brand new and help you ignore the other things you want to update for a while.
I put two coats of anti-mould primer on yesterday and today I get to add the more fun colour. There’s going to be a lot of slightly crazy pink. Previously it was a pale blue, with a white wall. (A while back it was a quite bright teal, and I miss it being colourful.) And then trims are going to be a kind of teal.
So… coffee and then it’s time to dig into the pink!
Not a remotley acccurate depiction of my bathroom, by the way. Just a bathroom from my head.
