I was pleased to manage to squeeze in a card of some sort for Chris this morning, before anyone else (apart from los gatos) was awake. Also, I kind of want to learn Japanese now, purely so I can have a lot of fun with a brush pen!
The hand/gloves/whatever they are totally and utterly don’t work. But, as I will continue to point out, daily sketchbook practice is not about making consistently beautiful finished pieces, but about learning and exploring and experimenting.
The vast bulk of the day was spent working. Again. But I didn’t keep working into the evening, which is all kinds of lovely. I momentarily thought I could forego this writing practice for the day. Especially when I had done pretty much all the other things (actually, do still have to do at least one Duolingo lesson) that I am trying to get done on a daily basis. And I was tired. And we had eaten a scrummy meal at Galgos. And had a bit to drink. And watched a leetle bit of telly together (first episode of Lower Decks which I loved). But I wanted to do this. And I actually like it being an end of the day thing. Whether or not it ends up being a ‘Hey, I did this, then that, then that,’ journaling exercise or a ‘Oh! This made me think of that, which…’ or whatever. It’s nice doing it at the end of the day. (Which definitely does make it feel like a teenager’s diary!)
Chris pointed out that I might well be feeling extra overwhelmed by the workload because of all the daily things I am making sure to fit in, but that it’s good that I keep fitting them in, because if I can keep them up now when we are extra busy, it should be a doddle to keep them up other times. (He may not have meant anything like that, to be honest, but that’s what I took away from whatever it was he did say.)
I DID get a lot done today, including collating the accounts to send to the accountant, all my daily habits, setting almost 200 PowerPoint slides, bringing the bins back in (after all, no-one should do that on their birthday) and I made the shop live on my website where you can buy prints of these pieces in A3 up to A0 size. So you can have a woman and cat on your wall – or even five women with cats if you’re feeling extravagant!
I’ve been meaning to sell prints for so long. And actually I did try, via Etsy, for a bit, but I didn’t do brilliantly with that, so am trying via my own website instead.
And now… it really is bedtime, because I am doing the thing I used to do a lot when the kids were little and closing my eyes every ten seconds or so.
Until tomorrow, when I hope beyond hope that I will stay awake and get everything done that I need ion
