I picked my two new audiobooks to listen to. The Gendered Brain by Gina Rippon and The First Woman by Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi.
I decided that I would like to have a non-fiction and a fiction on the go. In the same way I do with physical books (although, I have barely touched my current physical non-fiction book in a while, as it is buried under a pile of sketchbooks). That way, I can choose the mood I am in on a given morning (and I think I will definitely also audio read at other points, too, and not just during Morning Ink time.
Today, I started with The Gendered Brain, which felt appropriate, as I shall mostly be proofreading Psychology today and tomorrow, with maybe a bit of Primary Maths thrown in.
And I realised I would like to try some non-English audio books soon. Which i think I won’t be able to get through Borrow Box or BBC Sounds, so I may have to buy them. If anyone knows where I can look to listen to audio books in French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or German, do let me know. Oh, maybe in Esperanto, too, which could give me a refresher, as I am super super rusty.
Today, I finished the fourth sketchbook. Would anyone be interested in video flick throughs of them? And just flick throughs, or one where I talk through them a bit, too? I really love watching both of these by other artists, so would hope there would be some interest, but also know that it wouldn’t be for everyone.
I’m also strongly considering buying a scanner, to scan them all, rather than relying on my camera phone and adjusting all the settings to make up for my bad photography. Technically, the (very annoying) printer will scan, but it doesn’t do so very sensibly any more and I can’t adjust as I go. I am so tempted to buy a new printer, too, but I don’t think I can swing it this month – unless I get a flood of new paid subscribers, wanting to get printed artwork in the post.
I think I may just get an Audible subscription, as it looks to me like I could borrow the French, Italian and Spanish (etc.) audio books with that, too. I have a real yearning to listen to Elena Ferrante's Neapolitan series in Italian. When I'm done with the current two, I will make a decision.
