I woke up ridiculously early today, even for me. Could not get back to sleep. My head was whirring, creating an idealised version of back to school that probably actually wouldn’t be ideal for anyone except me, decades ago if I were somehow my daughter now. Year 11 will go how it goes and we will come out the end of it in one way or another and go for our planned post-GCSE trip to Paris and deal with the next chapter when it comes and how it needs to be.
After having my feet attacked by the cat (her bizarre habit that we don’t seem to be able to persaude her out of) and feeding her, I have sat here drinking tea, listening to L’Amica Geniale, and drawing a bunch of flowers from a photo in a friendship WhatsApp group. Which was very pleasant.
And now it’s not even 6.30 yet. So, I think I will eat some breakfast, read a bit of James, do a bit of Duolingo and rock up at my desk at 7am. And maybe then I will be able to fit in seven hours of work!
I have switched these daily sketchbook page posts to go out to everyone. If you don’t want daily emails you can toggle them off by going to Manage subscription.
The sketchbook page image will always be at the very top, for those of you who just want some nice black and white drawings to kick off your day.
Or jump down if you’re here for the words, which will very much vary from day to day, from no words, to a few lines, to a gush of stream-of-consciousness early-morning random ephemera.
And skip right to the end if you want the extracted elements from the sketchbook (sometimes there are quite a few and sometimes just the hand-lettered day and a single pattern or drawing).
