Back on the sofa this morning. And have not managed any morning exercise, as I woke with a really bad headache. It’s gone now, thankfully, but it’s almost nine, so I will have to jump straight to work.
I guess drawing some birds on yesterday’s walk has inspired me to draw more. There’s also some agency-related bird inspiration. Which is great, because birds are very fun to draw.
When I was a kid, during my educated years, I made a self-initiated project to draw a bunch of the birds from the Ladybird Book of Garden Birds. I probably planned to draw them all, but am fairly certain I didn’t. I used to earn pocket money from by washing the dishes after dinner, and I would take that pocket momey, once a fortnight to the art shop opposite the library and buy a new good coloured pencil. I don’t remember what brand they were, but I know they weren’t cheap and I know how excited I would feel to get a new colour. And the colours I got were focused on drawing those birds.
I enjoyed listening to L’Amice Geniale again this morning. I am not yet quite embedded, and so I find myself, at moments drifting away from listening and thinking about other things. I remember this would sometimes happen when I listened to French audiobooks years ago (I bought a bunch of them on CD and used to listen while doing typesetting work). Stupidly, we got rid of most, if not all, of our CDs when everything went digital. And now the teens spend much of their money in charity shops buying CDs and DVDs. And I would have had a substantial library of French classical literature as audiobooks. Ah well.
I am strongly considering Italy for my November trip. And thinking Florence. It’s been decades since I’ve been to Florence and I really only remember a stunning view from the top of a hill.
Today my planned work is split into two: four hours on Psychology and three hours on Childcare. Yesterday went well, and I was grateful that one task took an hour under my estimate, because I was very ready to stop work at 5.30. I hope that my estimates for today were generous, too, so it ends up being closer to a six-hour day than a seven-hour one.

Your colour pencil story is pretty cute! I can almost see it in mini-comic form :)
