I’ve had over a month of fairly intense illustration work, at the same time as a reasonable load of editing work. So I’ve been working maybe 25–30 hours a week on editing and 20–25 hours a week on illustration.
So last night I took the whole night off. I cooked (spicy sausage and tomato pasta topped with rocket and pine nuts). And then I sat and watched almost four hours of television. Without drawing at the same time.
I watched Mix Tape on BBC iPlayer. And absolutely loved it. It was set half in the 80s and half in the present day. And there was a bunch of nostalgia for me, especially the mix tapes and writing the tracks down and using a tape to tape deck to make it. And buses. Highly recommend, especially if you're around my age (51).
Having taken the night off feels rejuvenating. I think I may need one or two more of those before I get back into productivity zone. Actually, I also took Monday off, as I went out for dinner and a movie (I Know What You Did Last Summer, which was giod and quite scary) with my youngest. But that was a late night and a little bit stressful. Scary movies are harder for me than they were when I was a teenager watching three or four of them every other Saturday night with my friend.
