Welcome to Morning Ink, where I share my daily fountain pen drawing and whatever thoughts (sometimes none, mostly reasonably short, occasionally long and very rambling) jump out and onto the screen. If you don’t want daily emails you can toggle them off by going to Manage subscription – just turn Morning Ink off, no need to fully unsubscribe!1
Yesterday was ‘a day’. Full of extra things to deal with and more interactions with (outside) people. Full of unexpected emails to read, digest, and answer. I ticked one thing off my three-task to do list. And that was send out invoices.
But that’s OK. I will just pick them up today. I haven’t missed any deadlines, except self-set ones. No-one died because I didn’t do this particular task on my edit or this particular task on my proofread. The only difference it will make is I may need to do an extra half hour here or there before the actual deadlines.
My walk took me to the vets to pick up the flea and worming medication and then along the canal a bit and to Waitrose and then home. I *did* get over 10,000 steps again. And some pretty nature, too.
And some architecture. I absolutely love railway bridge arches. Arches in general, but railway bridge ones (or aqueducts) so so much!
And then I made galettes. Ham, cheese (both French) and egg for Chris. Leek, creme fraiche and comté for me. They were thicker and smaller than ‘proper’ ones, but still very nice.
My evening was spent watching Gilmore Girls and finishing a piece on the iPad. Probably – I am sitting on it today and may adjust the colours or add a detail here or there before uploading. Weirdly, this is a birthday card for myself. Though generic enough that it could be licensed. For the agency.
All this reporting of my day is to emphasise (mostly to myself, but if you get something from the message too, then yay) that the day turned around and had a lot of good in it, even if it was ‘a day’
Thanks so much for being here. Your presence on its own is a joy, but I love to hear from you, too, so please do feel free to leave a comment. About something that has resonated for you in today’s picture or in today’s words. Or about something completely unrelated. Tell me about your morning, your creative practice, your particular work or life juggling act. Anything. If you want to go even further you can take out a paid subscription – if you’re happy to give me your postal address I'll send you some art of some kind in the post.
And if you don’t like subscriptions (I totally get it!) you can ‘tip me’ instead. But really, your presence and comments are the best rewards – if they could be exchanged for food and electricity, I’d be so very happy.

Thank you! I have a feeling it is just the camera doing its digital trickery. But I am enjoying taking amd looking at the photos, so I don’t think I care if it’s me or the camera!
Well done for surving a "day" day. And for finding positives even when it didn't meet us to your to do list. Proud of you and your ta dahs . Love and solidarity. Your photography is getting amazing 👏 ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
