Yep, I’m always fizzing with new ideas come January, I didn’t make any resolutions this year but I reluctantly joined in on a word of the year, previously I think my word must’ve been Plod, so this year I’ve picked Drive and we’ll see if that drives me on this year
Good luck with the word of the year! I usually seem to have forgotten mine by mid-February. This year I picked two: Mindful Intention. And I am reminded that I meant to print out a number of copies to stick up around the house so I don't forget this time.
I hate and resent new years resolutions and always have, the only resolution I ever made and kept was suggested by cousin Dylan when I was little , it was a resolution not to make a resolution, and I have consistently done that every year since. Not sure why I have such an issue with them , I am trying to up my mobility. I've been working on that for months. I prefer to focus on any and all achievements rather than the planned ones , my tah dah list not my to do list , I think this cones from setting too high standards / thinking I can do too much , then getting frustrated and depressed when I don't achieve them. I am proud of all you have achieved be it thinks on your resolutions or the other gazillion things you achieve constantly , ps have missed reading your daily pondering (but totally respect you writing them when you want to not when you feel you have to) ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I 100% think that is the best New Year's Resolution! I don't know why I can't get away from making them in some way or other. All the habits I have ever succeeded in embedding (or giving up) have not been at New Year. I am over 800 days of Duolingo, for example (which my maths tells me means I didn't start on New Year).
Actually, I think Duolingo and it's streak freezes may be a good model - because it totally allows for you to celebrate achieving a long streak, but miss the odd day here and there. I think I always fail as soon as I miss a day or two at something because I feel it can't count if I haven't nailed every single day!
I think having good reasons to do something are also the best motivators. I failed to give up smoking many, many times, but did it and succeeded in sticking to it, when I got pregnant with R.
I love the idea of using the streak freeze over other areas of life 🙌 to be able to still celebrate achievements even if they are not every day ! I admire all your resolutions and ways you constantly improve and learn and develop I so many ways, I find my stubborn hate of resolutions bad I should be more flexible. You are right motivation is so important
Definitely going to adopt streak freezes for life now! I also think I'll go with gradual introduction of habits, or doing the thing where you latch onto existing ones (so there are things where you do squats while the kettle is boiling first thing - not that I'm saying I'll do that, but that sort of thing; and I DO absolutely draw every day in some way or another, so maybe just find a different way to share whatever daily drawing I do, so I can look back at it and see what's changed and so on).
(And I also always come up with ideas of new things to do when I'm still in super busy mode – then I collapse and don't find the time to do any of them until suddenly I'm in super busy mode again. Gah!)

Haha! Yes ask me again in a couple of weeks what is was and see if I remember. Also meant to say, lovely illustrations!
Thank you!
