Am very busy this week and will probably be pretty busy next week, too. But also have a scheduled, unmovable trip to London with three quarters of the family for a day and a half, while the other quarter of the family celebrates a special birthday with her friends. So, I’ve been working a lot this weekend to try to get a deadline out of the way and hopefully some presents wrapped before our train on Sunday.
Presents can be wrapped when we get back if necessary. And a half day delay on the deadline probably wouldn’t be a huge problem. But I’m still trying to kick it over the touchline (I have literally no idea whether that sporting analogy actually makes any sense, by the way, or even what sport it refers to!) because I am someone who meets deadlines. It’s kind of part of my personality. Sometimes I would really like if it weren’t. But it’s a useful personality trait to have as a self-employed person in an industry (well, two industries, even) filled with deadlines to meet.
So, the being very busy is why I am not writing another AI piece, or a piece about whether personal and sketchbook work needs a purpose, or a piece about hustling and pushing and trying to find that elusive way to not have to work so many hours, to not have so many deadlines…
Instead I’m sharing something I did a few years ago, when I MADE the time for a dedicated daily personal illustration project. And I stuck with it. And learnt a lot. And grew. And took it forward into two more similar projects.
I need another A to Z (because for some reason the framework of an alphabet seems to really really speak to me) to keep me motivated and inspired through busy work periods. To ensure that I carve out at least thirty minutes a day for a purposeful creative practice. And at least thirty minutes a day to not be stuck in front of my desk.
So… another poll (and, yes, I know, I still didn’t rename this space yet – it’s coming soon, though; by the end of August). (Sorry, had to reset the poll, because I forgot to set it for a week. But I have noted 2 votes for furniture 2 votes for flowers and 1 vote for insects.)
And a bonus if you can supply some of the harder letters (Z, Q, J, U are usually particularly tricky) for your choice!
See you next week, hopefully with a properly planned and maybe even interesting post and hope you enjoyed the eye candy in the meantime.
T is for Tea. It certainly is!
I've gone for sea creatures, although any of your choices would be delightful.
