Welcome to Morning Ink, where I share my daily fountain pen drawing and whatever thoughts (sometimes none, mostly reasonably short, occasionally long and very rambling) jump out and onto the screen. If you don’t want daily emails you can toggle them off by going to Manage subscription – just turn Morning Ink off, no need to fully unsubscribe!1
Super slow start today, letting the pen sit in hot water while I did some mindless scrolling. Chris has suggested I clean the pen after drawing and see if that helps, so it is also now soaking.
And a grid day with some things I would quite like to do over the weekend.
I am considering changing up my Substack again and stopping daily posts and just sharing the drawings on Notes again and then sharing the embedded Notes in a weekly post. And I also feel the Sofa Snippets are getting a bit dull (for me, but I suspect if they are getting dull for me, they will be for some others, too). But also, I feel like the daily and weekly posting is holding me back from writing bigger, standalone, pieces.
But also maybe I would like to do different kinds of weekly, or fortnightly, posts, that are more about deliberately drawing and documenting life, rather than just introspecting about it, which I feel these have become (says she, while introspecting).
I am also wondering a bit about changing the medium. Perhaps in the New Year.
I will mull it over for a bit, anyway. Perhaps my Florence trip will be an opportunity for a reset, or at least a rethink.
Thanks so much for being here. Your presence on its own is a joy, but I love to hear from you, too, so please do feel free to leave a comment. About something that has resonated for you in today’s picture or in today’s words. Or about something completely unrelated. Tell me about your morning, your creative practice, your particular work or life juggling act. Anything. If you want to go even further you can take out a paid subscription – if you’re happy to give me your postal address I'll send you some art of some kind in the post.
And if you don’t like subscriptions (I totally get it!) you can ‘tip me’ instead. But really, your presence and comments are the best rewards – if they could be exchanged for food and electricity, I’d be so very happy.

I didn’t follow your Daily Ink pages until you started sending them daily—and for what it’s worth, I do enjoy seeing what you draw every day and reading your short posts. I do think sofa snippets are less interesting and would welcome instead a post now and then on topics.
I don't know how to vote as I love what you do now. But I would encourage you to use it how you want to , sorry for the non answer.i will always consume and enjoy anything you produce. Sunday or Wednesdays are the days I have more time to read long posts. But I love the joy of daily art from you so allways managed to find time
